Smart Glasses is a connected camera wearable with bone-conduction audio feedback. MakersGround\u2019s original project record credits the company with developing the device design, hardware and software in collaboration with the client.<\/p>\n

The challenge<\/h2>\n

The project connected camera capture with spoken feedback through a wearable device and a mobile phone. The documented approach used the phone as the link between the glasses and an online image-recognition server.<\/p>\n

MakersGround\u2019s documented role<\/h2>\n

The original record explicitly describes MakersGround\u2019s work on device design, hardware and software. The client is not named, and the record does not assign separate responsibilities for developing or operating the recognition server.<\/p>\n

  1. A camera on the wearable captures footage. A bone conductor behind the ear provides audio output.<\/li>\n
  2. The device connects to the user\u2019s mobile app through Wi-Fi Direct.<\/li>\n

    The original description and media below are retained as a historical project record. \u201cMilitary-grade\u201d and timing statements are wording from that record; no certification or independently verified performance results are provided.<\/em><\/p>\n

    Wearable military-grade glasses that live stream facial data to an online server for analysis, a bone conductor then provides feedback to personnel. The face recognition server takes less than 2 seconds to process the image. MakersGround has worked with the client closely on developing the device\u2019s design, hardware, and super-efficient software.<\/p>\n

    \"Smart<\/p>\n

    It consists of two main peripherals: a camera and a bone conductor to be placed behind the ear.<\/p>\n

    The device essentially connects to an app running on the user’s mobile device over WiFi-direct communication, The device is military-grade.<\/p>\n

    Once the connection is established, the device starts steaming live footage captured from the camera, to the mobile app, which in turn sends a frame frequently to the image recognition server, the server sends back the names of the detected faces to the app, the app converts them to audio using text-to-speech and send the audio back to the device.<\/p>\n

    Finally<\/b>, the device plays the audio through the bone conductor to the user. The whole process takes 2-3 seconds (assuming the mobile phone is on a 4G network).<\/p>\n
